The year is off to a great start!
We have been hot, rained on and without power but the Hillwood Band has come through better than ever! The dog days of band camp are behind us and we are looking forward to the year with optimism and determination.
If you attended the pinning ceremony last Saturday, you well know the problems we faced due to the heat and not having lights in the auditorium. However, with a little creativity and lots of patience on the part of parents and students alike, everything was actually ok. The band members looked great in their striking uniforms and the color guard was beautiful in their new costumes. The performance was absolutely fantastic-- and that was only a small part of the complete show!
Even if you were not able to attend the pinning ceremony, we hope you have caught some of the enthusiasm and excitement that comes with each new marching band season. New music, new routines, new friends--it gives each of us a chance to be a part of something fresh and full of promise.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the HHS Band Boosters (that's anybody who wants to support the kids and the program in any way!) I heartily invite you to join us as we begin this new year with a football game at NCS on Friday, Aug. 20th. After that, stick around to see what happens next; it might be another call asking for your help at the concession stand! Or, it might be an opportunity to be a part of impressing an elite audience in a way that no other high school band in Nashville can.
Come see what's happening at Hillwood this year. Bring your optimism and your "patience hat" because you will need both. But it will be truly worth it.
