This Week's News

• Solo & Ensemble Saturday, April 21.  Select students will be participating in Solo & Ensemble this Saturday at Oliver Middle School.  Gig sheets with more details WILL NOT be emailed, but will be personalized and sent home with your student.  
  
  Please arrive no later than one hour before your performance time so participants can find their rooms and have plenty of time to warm up.
• Annual Steeplechase Fundraiser Sign-up Time! Our annual fundraiser, parking cars at the Iroquois Steeplechase, will be held on Saturday, May 8th.  We will report at 8:30am and work until 4:30 or 5:00 pm.  Meeting place on the Steeplechase grounds will be determined at a later date. All monies earned at this event will go toward your fair share band account.
  
  We still need volunteers to meet our minimum of 40 workers for the event.   Please email Cindy Smith at smithra17@comcast.net and let her know if you are coming.  She will also need your t-shirt size. 
• Purchase your Band Banquet Tickets by Friday, April 23. The Band Banquet will be Sunday May 2nd 1:00pm to 3:00pm. We will have a luncheon setting and will be just as nice as last year. The attire is come from church clothes, nice dinner clothes or if you want to go formal that will be great also.
  
  There is seating for 120 people. Tickets will be sold to ensure attendance. The tickets will be $10.00 for competitive band member and parents. For those who were not a competitive band member, the tickets will be $15.00 per member and per parent. Tickets may be purchased from Ms. Reeder at school. Checks will need to be written to the Hillwood Band Boosters.
  
  Tickets need to be purchased by April 23 so we can get a final count to the Holiday Inn.

• New Board Members Elected!  The new Hillwood Band Boosters Board was elected to office at last night's meeting.  Two positions remain open, but will be filled in June when the new board convenes.

• Band Account Statements will be Sent in May.  If you would like to know where you stand with your band account, statements will be sent again in early May.
  
  
• Now Accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, and PayPal. Band fees can now be paid by using a variety of methods through PayPal. Don't forget donations! We have a place for that now, too. Visit the HHS Band website at http://www.hillwoodband.com/ to see (and use) them.

• FREE Hillwood High School Drum Camp.  The event will be held April 15 and 16, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Hillwood High School Rehearsal Hall. This event is open to anyone who would like to become a member of the Hillwood High School Band drumline for the 2010-2011 school year.  
  
  A brief parent meeting to follow on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 7:30 PM-7:45 PM in the rehearsal at Hillwood High School.
• April General Band Booster Meeting Rescheduled.  There will be a general band booster meeting on Tuesday, April 20 at 6:00pm in the rehearsal hall. Elections will be held for the 2010-2011 board members. Those are as follows:

  Co-VP of Media and Community Relations: Unfilled at this time

  As you can see three positions remain open. These positions need to be filled, especially the second person for Ways and Means (this position requires more than one person to be effective). I know that everyone is busy (Believe Me I Know). Please consider one of these openings. Thank you, Gail Reeder.

  HOW CAN I PAY?
  
  1)  If you have an overage in your band account, you may use that money to secure your tickets. When you present your tickets on the day of the banquet, that money will be placed back in your account. If you do not show, then the money will go in to the general band account for the banquet.
  
  2) If you do not have an overage in your band account, you will need to pay the $10 per ticket to Ms. Reeder. Your money will be exchanged for your ticket on the day of the banquet. If you do not show, then the money will go in to the general band account for the banquet.

• April General Band Booster Meeting Postponed. The general band booster meeting for April will be postponed. The only thing up for general board approval is the new Booster Board, but there are still vacant positions.
  
  Band statements will be mailed Saturday, April 3.
• Revised Calendar Available. The calendar for the remainder of the school year has been revised and was sent home earlier this week. You can also find it on the band's website here.  The most noticeable change: Solo & Ensemble was moved from April 10 to April 24.
• Band Banquet MOVED to May 2. The 2009/2010 Band Banquet has been set for Sunday May 2nd from 1pm to 3pm. This is a change from the Saturday night banquet that we had planned. Because of situations beyond our control we were left with this date. We will have a luncheon instead. Tickets will be ?sold' to ensure participation. The ticket price will be set at $10.00 per person which will be returned to you on that day or you may request to have the money placed on your band account. The tickets may be purchased from Ms. Reeder at Hillwood and please limit the number of tickets to 4 per family.
  
  Ticket price for non competitive members will be $15 per person.
• Last Band Fees Payment DUE March 31.  Don't forget to make your final payment payable to the Hillwood Band Boosters.  You may drop your payment off in the lock box in the band room (please place payment in a sealed envelope with name) or mail the payment to the post office box (P.O. Box 58405, Nashville, TN  37205).
  
  If you would like to use PayPal to make your payment, please pay $103.30 to get $100 credited to your account. (Remember PayPal charges 2.9 % plus $0.30 per transaction.)
